I have a big week. with some important meetings and two television shoots. which means I am in need of a mani. I want something fun and trendy for fall. my all too loved go-to red needs to step aside for the moment and Imma let my true blue shine thru. It's been on all of the runways and it's different and it's my first time, so I am actually nervous. eek. will it complement my skin tone? my outfit? can u believe I think about this decision for more than five minutes?! high class problems people. I love the ritual of going in, picking a color and the hour long craftmanship of a local cheapie hood place. what color is on your nails this week?

I'm moving. and it's a bitch. most nights these days, I'm found under boxes of stuff, fighting my way out to find my inner sanctuary feng shui. since I am home, I'm watching teevee. and last night while organizing my media cables and old issues of domino magazine, I had the apprentice on. I haven;t watched it since my girl claudia jordan was a contestant. and while, I'm over the forced reality show format, there was a style stand-out. masha, who got kicked off last night, made it through the show in a trendy lace top, fire engine red nails and an awesome fitted black dress, blazer combo. she was so on trend, that I had to write a blog about it. she may be fired but masha was a fashion winner.

SPiN New York is the sh*t

Last night was an incredible event at SPiN New York! Hosted by BodyRock Sport, we raised over $5,000 for breast cancer research to benefit the Carol M/ Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. Stephen Baldwin showed and played and won (?!) against a team of a dozen super models from Independent Model Management. My Mom, who is a breast cancer survivor even played?! We spread the love. Day of, me & Maj threw an intimate bash at Norwood with the help of my college bud, Lady E. Hostess Cupcakes and LOTS of Champgne and strawberries. I wore an $8.50 scoop neck, Cheetah dress, red Chanel Rouge lips and had my hair did Betty Draper style by Meg D. at Salon V. Love my friends! Loved the day! Loving life! Especially loving you. Yesterday marked the fashion presentation at Chelsea Piers for the new collection of BodyRock Sport by Kelly Dooley. 25 models styled in the hottest Supertrash leather leggings, stilettos and luxe BodyRock Sport sports bra. Our style cycle class was held overlooking the Hudson River in the all new Cycle Studio and the class was held by famed triathlete, Andrew Kalley. We had Alicia Keyes' make-up artist and my darling friend, Ashunta Sheriff keying the looks and I styled the wardrobe on the girls who all incredibly chic while cycling away. The designer Kelly Dooley rocked The Trenta, the world's most expensive sports bra witha pair of Supertrash sequence leggings and a Supertrash cropped leather jacket. Major! We had a blast and everyone was in great spirits. Plus, NBC came through and shot a fun piece that ran on Taxi TV. Keep your eyes peeled on that if you're in a NYC cab... NYFW Trend Watch #2: Denim Do's

I admit it. I've been a flip-flopper on the whole denim issue. One day I love denim and the next day I loathe it. Having been out and about on the Fashion Week scene this week, I can confirm that denim is here to stay! And not just denim, but skinny denim. Everywhere. I found a favorite pair at Macy's in the Material Girl collection. Not necessarily nicely made but fit perfectly and on trend with a high waisted top. And if not her, every brand has a pair! Some good brands to stick by Jessica Simpson, always Levis, Converse at Target. if you're looking to spend $$ J Brand, Paige, Joe... Wear with flats or on special nights heels. Chuck Taylors also work... Do u have a pair?? A great cashmere vneck for Fall or beautifully fitted tees with "the necklace" or a long skinny one strand pearl-like necklace is a good pair!

NYFW 2011 Trend Watch #1

This Thursday, September 9 is the kick-off to New York Fashion Week. All of the fashion world will have it's eye on what trends are headed down the runway and into your closet. I'll be on the scene at the shows and even producing one of my own for BodyRock Sport by Kelly Dooley at Chelsea Piers in the all new cycle room in a simulated style cycle class led by celebrity triathlete Andrew Kalley overlooking the Hudson River. I pledge to deliver as many as "real girl / guy" trends I find. First up! Direct from the rehearsals at Lincoln Center, word from Vogue.com and as worn by Ms. Anna Wintour herself, is that super round, John Lennon like glasses are what's hot for glassware this Fall. I dressed my good friend lisa anne hillman, whose husband jon corn is nominated for 'curb your enthusiasm' in a chloe & reese cocktail gown paired with a mix of harry winston and ny & co. jewels. talk about high brow, low brow. I tried to convince her cutie hubby to rock the converse on the carpet with his tux, so time will tell if he did it or not... keep a style eye out! xo.

the past year has proved that I am OVER jeans. totally over it. I can't find a good pair to save my bum and I've tried them all!? joes, seven, paige, target brand... skinny, wide leg, boyfriend... nothing fits well enough to look nice and as a result I've declared denim dead! that is, until today... I have a levi's curve ID event to hit in the lower broadway levi's location. they say they can measure my curves and customize a perfect pair of jeans. we'll have to wait and see....

move over gaga, there is a new girl on the block. nicki minaj is the latest fashion trendsetter to hit the hip pop scene. so, when girl stepped out on the red carpet in melody ehsani, you know this is a brand designated to watch. born and raised in los angeles to a persian family, melody cut ties with her culture to follow her couture dream. and with amazingly chunky, funky accessories and shoes, it looks like miss thing is self expressing her desire to rule the runway.

maj and I were overwhelmed by the response left by friends on our FB vacation pix. I even got a call from my stylish friend, phu asking advice on what are appropriate gifts for a guy on a one year anniversary? I gave my man, a full adidas originals tracksuit in green. while not romantic, it was super cool and something he always wanted. watches, sunglasses and cologne are also great gifts for a significant. alpha in west hollywood is a great place to pick up a guy's gift. and any barney's or barney's co-op will have the hook up on luxury wallets, socks, weekend bags and ties.

I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom

I love the scene in mean girls, when amy poehler makes hump day happy hour drinks for her teenage daughter and friends (little did we know that lindsay lohan was actually drinking the stuff) securing her status as a "cool" mom. What is a "cool mom" anyway? To me, its a woman who cares for the well being of her child and has the tips, tricks and not always savvy know how to support a growing human. Enter Daphne Brogdon. This comedian-cum-TV Guide hostess is a mother to two children and step-mother to another three and has taken her role of mother to the next level. She created Coolmom.com as a cool place online that offers a blog for mothers of all stages to post, rant and laugh at the little things. plus, there are adorable videos featuring Daphne and her kids which are a must see, coz that bitch is funny.

amazing weekend getaway on the cheap

it was me & maj's first year anniversary this past weekend and since I had been traveling for the past three weeks to boston, los angeles and miami on business, I wanted to spend some quality summer snuggle time with my man. I got home from the miami swimshow on wednesday night and thursday morning we were off and running. a $17 chinatown bus from nyc to DC has us visiting family and eating yummy soul fusion food at creme on U street. friday morning we picked up our enterprise rental and headed to the outer banks, north carolina. our adorable no frills hotel, ocean house motel at milepost 9.5 in kill devil hills was a perfect hideaway with great prices. I rocked my bikini thief zuma in black on the beach as we baked our Mediterranean skin. we ate a ton of DQ blizzards (mine, cookie dough & his, heath bar), delicious fish at mako mike's, putt putt at sunset and an incredible sunset ecology tour with captain lenny of soundside adventures to watch the purple martins descend on the manteo bridge. we were in the car, sunday morning, bellies filled with grits and bad coffee from stack 'em high to make the five hour trek back to DC. we got to our destination with just enough time to catch my 6pm appearance on TV Guide Channel's Fashion Team (which I rated a solid A -- video post to follow soon). a veggie chinese dinner in chinatown DC capped off our amazing weekend. naps on the bus had us in NYC early morning and in bed to dream of Dairy Queen.

it took me a trip to miami and a lost mission on lincoln road to finally succumb to the hottest trend that's hit the out of school streets: silly bandz! not only did I buy several packs to rock, I've paired them with my fave gold bangles and lisa blue whale charm bracelet. I'm so smitten, I'm even considering taking a pic to post to their famed website wall.

the fashionistas and miami scene showed up in support of their miami fashion week and new trends were en fuego! most lovelies in the front row at the kelly cutrone-called shows were decked out in flow-y dresses with a spectrum of rainbow colors and pretty, soft graphics. color is the color du jour. the cutie pictured above got her right on trend find at h & m so the fashion elite is available for everyone! the swimwear for 2011 follows the same suit with bold colors and busying prints, with lisa blue, beach bunny and of course, bikini thief being the names to watch!

me & bikini thief maven, whitney andresen are rockin' down in miami in booth 554 at the miami swim show 2011. in the last 24 hours, we've seen the kardashians (and their asses - I'm still bowled over by it) hit miami fashion week, got stuck in two major downpours, feasted on blue cocktails and had our heads spin by the worldof swimwear at the swimshow. its day one and we had a blast with our model, katya more. she's the sweetest. and I absolutely loved the look of the new york buyers and press. you can always tell a state by its style. and new yorkers do it best.

I'm totally obsessivo with the pint-sized offspring of the most influential performer of my time. ms. madonna ciccone has created a mini fashion mogul in her thirteen year old daughter, lourdes aka lola leon. the material girl collection will be out in macy's come august and I for one am totally ready to live in her world.

loving my latest article on curvy girls for betty confidential. while I too questioned the choice of gabourey sidibe as a curvy girl, I thought it better to use someone real as opposed to the we've heard it all before with scarlett johannson, been there done that. plus! I got to write about my two faaaave curvies, christina hendricks who I am obsessed with and jessica simpson, my hero.

I've always been a HUGE fan and appreciator of pharmacy chic. some of my best finds have come from the rite aid on sunset, the gas stations of mississippi while on my NASA tour and this fourth weekend, the wal-greens in gloucester, mass. I picked up the cutest sailing cap. since gloucester is a fishing town, I'm pretty sure it was a bona-fide fishing / boating cap but pair it with gold hoops, oversized gold cocktail rings and the sailor romper I found on 34th street and we got ourselves an outfit. ahoy mateys!

heading to beantown to celebrate our country's Independence by the sea. packed my U.S.A. flip flops that I picked up at target in the $1 bin. got my tamarindo suit packed. and my sailor-striped romper ready to rock over smores and sparklers on the beach.

my favorite part of the summer is food! ralph's italian ices, fresh long island corn on the cob and fried chicken to eat on the beach watching the sunset over the atlantic ocean. sometimes though, cooking the chicken can cause quite an oily mess. since I don't have a car that I can convert the oil to run on, I thought this doo-dad was something helpful to keep in the kitchen.
