fern mallis moves out! NYFW moves west!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PLANS UNVEILED FOR FIRST SEASON OF MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK AT LINCOLN CENTER

New York, NY (April 29, 2010) – IMG announced today plans for its first season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park at a fashion industry briefing supported by The City of New York, Lincoln Center and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The move to Lincoln Center has allowed IMG Fashion to unveil event upgrades such as modernized production capabilities for designers, digital services concurrent with the advanced needs of the 21st Century, better accessibility for attendees through both public and private transportation and great resources/facilities on-site and in the surrounding areas.

The move to Lincoln Center comes after extensive work between City Hall, Lincoln Center, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), IMG and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

“This is a very exciting day for us,” said Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide. “The move has allowed IMG to reinvent and improve so many aspects of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as well as develop a stronger link to the surrounding facitilies and spaces available at Lincoln Center and the neighborhood. This is the first season in what we are confident will be a long ‘run’ at Lincoln Center.”

Said Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Director of Fashion, Lincoln Center, “We are delighted to provide Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a new home and an extraordinary array of possibilities. Over the past few years, Lincoln Center has undergone a transformation, resulting in a campus that is aesthetically spectacular as well as extremely accessible. We look forward to providing the fashion industry with one central location for activities in and around the tents. In addition, we plan to welcome consumers with a dynamic array of opportunities to engage with the art of fashion.”

how does something so pretty have such an ugly name?

brought to us by the swedish, clogs first came into fashion in the 1970's. over the years, they have made their transition from traditional dancing clog to fashion piece to chef's attire to the comfortable (yet slouchy) crocs and finally, this year, the clog is back as a fashion piece and it is faaabulous. perfectly paired with a skinny jean and loose tee, clogs are THE shoe of the season. I just wish it would get warm enough in nyc, so we can break out the spring wardrobe!

hello to the haul!

I recently read about haul videos on youtube and am now right obsessed. just watched about two hours worth. I made this video not too long ago and figured I'd post it on youtube for my new haul friends, introducing myself to them. depending on subscriber turn-out to this blog (subscribe today!) and to my twitter at twitter.com/Jess_Zaino, I'm thinking of throwing a sponsored contest, for one lucky haul girl to win a trip to new york city for a shopping spree. Get to it, girls!

waddup G?

looking for an accossory that is out of this world? the G-TIE is a new concept on an old idea. and by out of this world, I mean the materials used to fuse and create the G-Tie are sterling silver and chrome. part man. part machine. already seen on celebs like adam lambert and denzel washington, the g-tie looks like tie knot but is anything but. gentlemen: would you rock it in your wardrobe?

tom

I first recall tom and his earthy brand of shoes when I caught the television ad campaogn that promised that for every pair of tom shoes purchase, a child in need would receive a pair. I loved that idea. and then I started to see the shoes on the feet of some very stylish ladies. and I love the shoes. style and alturism (and a cute designer?) makes for a terrific trend.

rainbow bright

I wrote this article on spring color trends for the home shopping network nearly two years ago. goes to show you that all style trends are cyclical. there can't be anything more pop-y than the colors that are popping up on clothes this spring season. invest in some color to make your spring style merry and bright.

I like bike.

anyone who is anyone knows that the epicenter of hip stems from my hood of williamsburg, brooklyn. as a style and trend expert, I am all too lucky to live here and get the visual street scoop on hip style before it hits big. I'm not sure if this trend will make it to the mainstream but I saw it three times on the walk down bedford to the subway, so for the ubercool, take this trend notice: bicycle hats. those tiny little caps that sit atop a professional biker or messenger. apparently, everyone is wearing one. will you?

all the way chambray

my cutie assistant and junior brand principal to the street chic empire, bryanna is rocking a new shirt today. and she loooves it. you can tell by the 10+ tweets she made about it. the chambray western from gap is afforadable, flattering to all figures from petite to plus and looks too too when paired with black denim and flats.
