me and my pollo, professional and genius organizer, nicolioio got down with the renegade craft fair in mccarren park this past weekend. nicole was on the very focused and year-long hunt for jewelry from lines vera meat and erica weiner.

she made out with both a fantastic home made two finger gold ring form the former and some sexy french name bracelets from the latter. plus, she even bought me an adorable hair bow made from men's ties for being such a good lil helper. although the renegade craft fair only comes around once a year, all goods and crafts can be found for sale on etsy.

I was especially interested in the summer style. with everyone out at the bbq or beach, I kept my eye on what trends started to show themselves. and nothing says american like short denim shorts. an easy get at forever 21 for under $20. score. and head accessories to keep the hair off your SPF'd face. think bows, netting, ears, anything that pulls that hair away and looks cute. match all that with some sandals and a simple tee and you'll be lovin' summer and looking sexy in no time.

I have a secret. I know one must follow certain fashion etiquette and invest in quality pieces however I have found something so ridiculously trendy and disposable, I can't stay away. conway on 34th and 7th ave in nyc is my secret spot. everything is "inspired" by what's in major stores yet nothing is over $20. my spring flats which are strappy gold with silver rockstar studs were $4.99!??!? let's not mention it again. that said, if you're in nyc and need a new wardrobe or a quick fashion pick me up, conway is a must see.

looking for style in the arab world

with the recent crowning of our first arab-american miss america, rima fakih, my super hot boyfriend, majed starring in the recent new york arab-american comedy festival and the soon to be released sex in the city 2 which takes place in the middle east, I figured I would do some investigative trending on the culture and style of the arab world. the popular thaub, traditionally worn by men is a long, white tunic worn in the desert. this can be easily be translated into a beautiful tory burch tunic for the beach. and everyone loves a scarf. the traditional kafia is sold widespread from urban outfitters to the hipster streets of williamsburg. and as for beauty products, my super hot boyfriend majed just educated me on the practice of henna as hair dye. peace through style, people. like jessica simpson, embrace and share the beauty and love in all.

PLANS UNVEILED FOR FIRST SEASON OF MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK AT LINCOLN CENTER


New York, NY (April 29, 2010) – IMG announced today plans for its first season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park at a fashion industry briefing supported by The City of New York, Lincoln Center and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The move to Lincoln Center has allowed IMG Fashion to unveil event upgrades such as modernized production capabilities for designers, digital services concurrent with the advanced needs of the 21st Century, better accessibility for attendees through both public and private transportation and great resources/facilities on-site and in the surrounding areas.

The move to Lincoln Center comes after extensive work between City Hall, Lincoln Center, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), IMG and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

“This is a very exciting day for us,” said Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide. “The move has allowed IMG to reinvent and improve so many aspects of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as well as develop a stronger link to the surrounding facitilies and spaces available at Lincoln Center and the neighborhood. This is the first season in what we are confident will be a long ‘run’ at Lincoln Center.”

Said Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Director of Fashion, Lincoln Center, “We are delighted to provide Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a new home and an extraordinary array of possibilities. brought to us by the swedish, clogs first came into fashion in the 1970's. over the years, they have made their transition from traditional dancing clog to fashion piece to chef's attire to the comfortable (yet slouchy) crocs and finally, this year, the clog is back as a fashion piece and it is faaabulous. perfectly paired with a skinny jean and loose tee, clogs are THE shoe of the season. I just wish it would get warm enough in nyc, so we can break out the spring wardrobe!

I loved that idea. and then I started to see the shoes on the feet of some very stylish ladies. and I love the shoes. style and alturism (and a cute designer?) makes for a terrific trend.

on a rainy day in nyc (which happens to be today), one must own a very sturdy and stylish umbrella to make the many block-walk to the subway station bearable. more often than not, we youngsters and/or urban commuters have a couple of cheapie umbrellas to make due. this results in a busted, pathetic brolly that usually ends up in the corner wastebasket and a disgruntled ny-er who is left soaking wet. I know some things are left up to surprise and spontenaity but for me, a good plan is a lot more sexy.
