BodyRock Sport by Kelly Dooley NYFW S/S 2011

Yesterday marked the fashion presentation at Chelsea Piers for the new collection of BodyRock Sport by Kelly Dooley. 25 models styled in the hottest Supertrash leather leggings, stilettos and luxe BodyRock Sport sports bra. Our style cycle class was held overlooking the Hudson River in the all new Cycle Studio and the class was held by famed triathlete, Andrew Kalley. We had Alicia Keyes' make-up artist and my darling friend, Ashunta Sheriff keying the looks and I styled the wardrobe on the girls who all incredibly chic while cycling away. The designer Kelly Dooley rocked The Trenta, the world's most expensive sports bra witha pair of Supertrash sequence leggings and a Supertrash cropped leather jacket. Major! We had a blast and everyone was in great spirits. Plus, NBC came through and shot a fun piece that ran on Taxi TV. Keep your eyes peeled on that if you're in a NYC cab... And, if you're looking to buy your own BRS, the facebook fan page has an easy to purchase store wit FREE SHIPPING to FB fans. Get going!! This is a brand you don't want to miss.

NYFW Trend Watch #2: Denim Do's

I admit it. I've been a flip-flopper on the whole denim issue. One day I love denim and the next day I loathe it. Having been out and about on the Fashion Week scene this week, I can confirm that denim is here to stay! And not just denim, but skinny denim. Everywhere. I found a favorite pair at Macy's in the Material Girl collection. Not necessarily nicely made but fit perfectly and on trend with a high waisted top. And if not her, every brand has a pair! Some good brands to stick by Jessica Simpson, always Levis, Converse at Target. if you're looking to spend $$ J Brand, Paige, Joe... Wear with flats or on special nights heels. Chuck Taylors also work... Do u have a pair?? A great cashmere vneck for Fall or beautifully fitted tees with "the necklace" or a long skinny one strand pearl-like necklace is a good pair!

How to Identify Trends

NYFW 2011 Trend Watch #1

This Thursday, September 9 is the kick-off to New York Fashion Week. All of the fashion world will have it's eye on what trends are headed down the runway and into your closet. I'll be on the scene at the shows and even producing one of my own for BodyRock Sport by Kelly Dooley at Chelsea Piers in the all new cycle room in a simulated style cycle class led by celebrity triathlete Andrew Kalley overlooking the Hudson River. I pledge to deliver as many as "real girl / guy" trends I find. First up! Direct from the rehearsals at Lincoln Center, word from Vogue.com and as worn by Ms. Anna Wintour herself, is that super round, John Lennon like glasses are what's hot for glassware this Fall. Stay tuned, Fashion friends! xoJZ

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PLANS UNVEILED FOR FIRST SEASON OF MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK AT LINCOLN CENTER

New York, NY (April 29, 2010) – IMG announced today plans for its first season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park at a fashion industry briefing supported by The City of New York, Lincoln Center and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The move to Lincoln Center has allowed IMG Fashion to unveil event upgrades such as modernized production capabilities for designers, digital services concurrent with the advanced needs of the 21st Century, better accessibility for attendees through both public and private transportation and great resources/facilities on-site and in the surrounding areas.

The move to Lincoln Center comes after extensive work between City Hall, Lincoln Center, the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), IMG and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

“This is a very exciting day for us,” said Peter Levy, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IMG Fashion Worldwide. “The move has allowed IMG to reinvent and improve so many aspects of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week as well as develop a stronger link to the surrounding facitilies and spaces available at Lincoln Center and the neighborhood. This is the first season in what we are confident will be a long ‘run’ at Lincoln Center.”

Said Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Director of Fashion, Lincoln Center, “We are delighted to provide Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a new home and an extraordinary array of possibilities. Over the past few years, Lincoln Center has undergone a transformation, resulting in a campus that is aesthetically spectacular as well as extremely accessible. We look forward to providing the fashion industry with one central location for activities in and around the tents. In addition, we plan to welcome consumers with a dynamic array of opportunities to engage with the art of fashion.”

The most exciting and sought-after week in fashion recently took place in New York City. Up and coming designers, front row celebrities and fashionista blogger stars converged on the city to see and set trends for NY Fashion Week and the most recognizable and exciting thing I came across were these super skinny cigarettes, Vogue. everyone and their mama had these sticks dangling from their super shiny pop o' hot pink lips. apropos fer sher.

new york fashion week trend watch

having spent several hours in the tents this week for new york fashion week, fall 09, I can declare rodarte is in. marchesa is king. and a chunky heel met with black ankle socks is what you should be wearing. boys get out your bowties, high-hemmed pants and thick black rimmed spectacles. girlies rock the menswear trend in baggy boyfriend jeans rolled up over heels. stay away from the thin, wrapped head band and go for an ornate and structural head piece. hot pink nails for all and mcdonalds coffee is the new champers. who knew?

DVF forevah evah

after her radio interview on 105.1, me and robbie picked up tiara marie in the escalade and made our way to the tents. got an exclusive aerican express consumer preview of the diane von furstenberg 'rock goddess' collection. got to sit front row next to my new friend yuli. the show started off with andre leon talley interviewing ms. von furstenberg then kicking off a fab collection inspired by 70's rock hippie chic. so colorful. so flowy. so practical and beautiful. so DVF.

NYFW friday: duckie brown

was chillin at the expose suites in the PH of the bryant park hotel with my favorite superstar blogger, micah-jesse. got an oxygen facial and totally cute, made on the spot, krelwear dress. we ended up in the star lounge at the tents to say our hellos to the fashion-atti. loved spying linda carter in her heart truth red dress. dipped into the duckie brown show. some great mesnwear that hit with fitted dark browns and pops of orange. lots of misses though with oversized pom pom hats and scarves that looked cartoon-y and not couture. ran into ann dexter-jones on the way into charlotte ronson. she is fab.

kira closings?

ever since I stepped foot in the bev hills flagship store of kira plastinina, I was impressed with the low price points and high quality fun trends from the 15 year old russian designer. when I got to new york and saw that the broadway store had closed, I did some investigating into what happened to the teen wunderkind. turns out, the U.S. economy got this little russian girl good. having claimed bankruptcy in the U.S. stores, kira platinina closed its american doors in january of this year. she will be missed. it was a great brand with fun stuff. so fun, it may warrant a trip across the pond for more kira plastinina.
